Would you say I haven't got this job?

I went for an interview and they were going to interview someone else after me and only call one of us back for a second interview. It's been 10 days since the other candidate's interview and I haven't heard anything from them. Can I assume they're not going to call me for a second interview?

It a bit off that they hav'nt contacted you to let you know either way, i would of thought they would of let you know by now, sorry!

You can ring and ask for 'feedback' on your interview...

I wonder if they are unsure whether the other candidate will accept the job if offered, so they are hedging their bets a bit and not turning me down yet.

I don't want to chase them as I don't want to seem too eager, if I take it I would want slightly flexible hours so I want them to want me more than I want the job IYSWIM. It doesn't really matter too much as I like the job I have now, but not the commuting. It will be the first job that I've applied for and not been offered in about 18 years though (admittedly I've only changed jobs 4 times in that time).

Either they have offered it to the other candidate who has not accepted yet, or the company is crap and do not bother to tell candidates when they have been rejected. Both look lke bad news....

I got this job after all. I had a second interview on Wednesday and they sent me an email offering it to me yesterday. One of the interviewers opened the 2nd interview by saying "Well it's been a couple of weeks since we last meet, sorry for the delay", I just couldn't stop myself saying "it's been five weeks actually".
