whats the quickest most efficient way to find childcare?

Help! I just accepted a part time job...only to find out the nanny whom I love has accepted a full time job and can no longer work for me.

How do I find someone asap. I told my employer I could start soon and childcare was not an issue...now it is!

I prefer childminders, but all the ones I know are full. Also some dont work late, and I need some one who can work till 7.30pm, 2/3 days per week.

What should I tell my employer. How long will it take me to interview/find the right person?

Hi, your local council will have a list of childminders in yours and the surrounding areas, im not sure which department, but if you rang the main switchboard and said that you require such list can they either put you through directly or inform you where you can find out, they should be able point you in the right direction. Also you may find that 7pm is about the latest, but you may find a slightly later one.
how long will it take? hmm 1stly that depends on getting that list, so ask the council can you collect as opposed to them posting it out to you, 2nd, you will have to circle all the childminders on your list who meet your requirements, time, location etc. then start ringing round, you may find one who is willing to start within the next couple of days or so. You may like the 1st person who you meet I did, mine was fab!!
OR you may not. I remember when i was collecting my DD and my childminder had another childminder and her kids visiting, and i instantly didnt like her! and through the 18 months that i saw her i never ever took to her and just thought thank fuck i didnt pick her However, the flip side to that coin is, a friend of mine did have her and said she was fine and had no complaints.
Go and see them, see how you feel and take it from there.

Well you are unlikely to find a nursery to work those hours so you need to find another nanny. Advertise on Gumtree and Childcare immediately. You might find someone this weekend who could start immediately so allowing for references and a training period, you might be able to start end of next week? However, there are no guarantees with recruitment so I wouldn't commit to anything closer than at least two weeks away with the employer.
