How soon could I quit? Don't want to ask HR.

Ah me oh my, if the difficulties getting childcare in central london persist I may quit.

I have found a great nanny who can do three months from when I start back. That is also the period I have to do according to my contract in order not to pay back the ehnanced maternity pay. So I am considering quitting. My job is with a body playing by NHS rules.

So i I go back end of April and hand my notice in for three months time, will this release me from having to pay the cash back?

what is your notice period? and are you sure that you only need to work for 3 months in order to keep your maternity pay?

it's what it says in my contract. i have to return within a year of starting maternity leave to mine or any other job in the NHS for three months. my actual notice period is only 1 month but i would prefer to give them more notice if possible. They deserve it.

Ok, yes, you can give more notice than you are required to (as long as you make it clear that's what you're doing and that you are planning to work the 3 months you need to work).

I am in central london too, and have got a nanny as any other sort of childcare is a nightmare imo.

Make sure you state clearly what you intend your last day at work to be. My employer tried to make it 1 mth from the date of my letter and I would have lost out on accrued holiday pay
