Is this right about childcare vouchers while on maternity leave

Hi, I save the maximum amount of childcare
vouchers I am allowed from my salary, so pre tax. I think it's £243 a month.

I am about to go on maternity leave again and am intending to take the whole year. I asked payroll at work (I work at a university) what happens to these and they said I continue to contribute while on full pay and once I go to SMP only and then to no pay they cover the cost for me.

Obviously this is great if true, and I don't want to query it in case they realise they've made a mistake, but is this really so? Surely that means I get an extra benefit that employees who don't save for vouchers don't get.

Anyone know?

Fluffy, that is right and was the same for me. It's great as an added perk whilst on maternity leave.

Yup it's right that's why small companies are tending to not offer them anymore Sad

It's true. Just done it myself! It meant that DD and I got some time together without loony tunes 3 yo DS barging around.
