Co-working/private members club in London - any suggestions?

Hi

Realise this is a bit specific, so sorry for any non-Londoners...

Am finding myself in Central London more and more. Want to have an affordable occassional base between meetings, which has wifi and free drinks. Fed up of trapsing around trying to find free wifi (yes I know I should just get a dongle!), so considering joining a private members club or co-working club.

Met somebody in Shoreditch House today www.shoreditchhouse.com/ was SO hip, not really sure it is me. Plus ideally I am looking for something on the Central line, ideally East rather than West.

Like space and not somewhere just full of Men (like the IoD's Pall Mall).

Any suggestions?
TIA

what is your idea of affordable?

There's Home House, Adam Street.

Although I think it would be more cost effective to just rent an office

Thanks Nancy, will have a look at those.

I was hoping for hundreds of pounds, some of the posher ones are nearer £1K plus you pay for drinks when there.

Somebody I know paid c£200 for the year for here www.connectionsattrafalgarsquare.com/ although ratecard price is £320+joining fee. It does have the wifi and free drinks I want, just not in a great location for me. But I guess I am not going to get everything I want Hmm on a small budget.

I have looked at hot desk/offices but they are a commitment that I am not sure I'll need.

Need to think on.

do you have a professional organisation in your industry? DH uses the head office of his for meetings - for free, bookable in advance. Otherwise the cost of coffees in eg Starbucks/Costa would probably work out the same as membership of somewhere. Also (although not in the area you mentioned) John Lewis restaurant on Oxford Street has plenty of tucked away spaces have had a couple of 5/6 person meetings there.

A supplier we work with is based at 1 Alfred Place just behind Tottenham Court Road. I've been there - it's light and bright and not at all clubby and awful. Also, it's definitely not Shoreditch House! Our suppliers have been there for a couple of years so it works ok for them.

You could try the Hub, at Kings Cross; you can also use their branch at Islington as you buy so many hours a month.

Also the British Library cafe is popular for meetings (up the road from Kings Cross station) and it's free!

what about a gym. sounds random but i have often worked in the gym lounge, using their wifi/drinks etc..

use the gym before /after. perfect if you need ad hoc childcare also as many have a creche
