Leaving a retail job after 12 years

I've been working in retail for the past 12 years now and Ive finally had enough of the retail world. I have seen a job advertised at park resorts caravan park as an admin assistant and I'm so tempted to apply but after working in retail for so long I don't know what to expect. At the moment my rate of pay is £7.40 an hour, I have 5 weeks of holidays and get staff discount. I'm just wondering if anyone can help with how much on average an admin assistant earns. Also do you think a move from retail to admin will work, I don't know if it will suit me but I feel if I don't get out of retail now I never will, the only thing that keeps me there is knowing that it's a good company and my job is secure where as if I got the admin job it might not be.

Thanks

You'd need to read the job and person spec very carefully and prepare answers as how your retail expereince has given you the relevant transferrable slkills (like customer service, attention to detail, accuracy, meet deadlines etc) Pay will vary especially if it is regional but probably similar , likewise holday is fairly standard. You may need to work BH's and weekends in peak season , do ask about seasonality though. There may be perks such as holiday discounts.
