Interview was over a week ago.... haven't heard anything

thats it really, do I ring/email and ask the HR dept, or just assume i haven't got it. The inerview panel said at the time I would hear within the week....:-(

I would ring or email them and ask for feedback, nothing wrong in doing that at all. good luck! Also, remember last week was really short working week so they might be backed up.

DH once had a job offer come through over two weeks after the interview, it is possible and you don't want to put your foot in it.

It is quite usual after interviewing, and I have done this also myself, to let the obviously-unappointable unsuccessful candidates know immediately, but not tell the second-choice candidate the result either way, until the first-choice candidate has accepted the job offer in writing.

It has happened a couple of times that the first-choice candidate ended up turning down the job (either from having had a better offer elsewhere or because they were using the job offer from us to get better terms with their current employer) - so the second choice got the job.

Once it's been at least 8 working days since the interview, no sooner, send a brief email just saying, very politely, could you just confirm that I'll hear either way, as I'm concerned that I could have missed a call/email/letter (insert made-up excuse such as "because my internet provider has been having issues lately" or somesuch if you wish, to mitiage any perception that you might be trying to hassle them)

I'm hopping up and down and it was only yesterday (said next round end of the week). I want to know nownowNOW!
