im serious actually. where has my brain gone? since ive been out of work i just seem to be losing it. there was a time when i could write a reasonably intelligent and well worded post or letter. its deteriorating rapidly. i sit for hours trying to word things. when im on the phone to friends i um and ah and stutter and cant seem to get out what i really want to say. i feel like my head is a big empty space. will this all come back when i start working again or am i now doomed to be an idiot forever? is it just me?

It's not just you and I seem to be doomed for ever, been back at work for a year and spend all my time in a fug.

Feel free to practice your writing on mumsnet . I've been back at pt work for 1.5 years now and do feel like I've lost my mojo, killer instinct and drive (not that I had much of one to begin with)! Occasionally stuttering and tongue-tied. Can't get excited over office politics and egos anymore when I have menus to plan.

ive been practising it on mn for over two years blueshoes and i can only say it gets worse! find myself excited over the prospect of making bread tonight...shakes head sadly....

Nightowl, I'm exactly the same as you!

Have been as SAHM for five years now and I've got the concentration span of a flea as well as all the things you mention.

I hate it, I feel left out of a lot of conversations because I just haven't heard of certain things, let alone understand them. I'm particulary behind on technology, e.g, I'm not really too sure what an ipod or an MP3 player is, let alone a blackberry

It is called CRAFT syndrome - Can't Remember A F*ing Thing Syndrome and often occurs after having children

KAZ09 · 13/02/2006 19:12

How annoying is it when you frequently cannot remember people's names. Then if I do I never get their surnames. I always need help and can see people thinking - she is thick!!!!!!

Mercy · 13/02/2006 19:21

lol seb1. I'm getting worse as my children get older though.........

I must admit it does worry me with regard to going back to paid work.

KAZ09 · 13/02/2006 19:24

When I first went back to work I felt as if I was in a bubble, but it gets easier, honestly. But the memory never restores itself and that is annoying, especially if you work with men!!!!

tillykins · 13/02/2006 19:26

its just you...

I found it came back when I was at work and got left behind at the clocking out machine!

LOL at CRAFT
