Does anybody happen to know why you don't get London Weighting when you are on maternity leave/maternity pay??

I would have thought you would have as it is part of your pay. What area of work are you in - Local Government etc?

I work in Local Government and I still get my essential car users allowance even though I am maternity leave.

Do you have an intranet so you can get the detail or ring the Maternity Alliance or look at their website. HTH

Could it be because london weighting is paid in recognition of travel costs? If you are on maternity leave you won't be incurring travel costs to work?

If you are in a union you can ask your union rep. Don't know the answer.

It makes sense if it's for travel but I thought LW was also meant to cover higher housing costs, which is why I wonder about not receiving it.
