I do party plan whilst dh has a full time career. I enjoy it but feel I need to devote more time to it to enable my business to grow.
I have 3 infant school aged dc so I tend to work as much as possible whilst they are at school and evenings/weekends.
However, when I am at work and dh looking after dc litereraly nothing gets done in the house. He even took dc out to lunch so he didn't cook. When I got home I ended up cooking dinner aswell.
Know I probably need to broach this with dh but I just wanted to find out how others in my position divide things up.

DH makes a mess of the kitchen - I tidy it up - He cooks most of the meals - I make sure the fridge is full
in March I never see him ; in May I work full time
the patterns have varied over the years as our two businesses have ebbed and flowed and as the kids get older

the MOST IMPORTANT THING is that if the division of labour starts to bug either you, sit down and talk about it right away
because resentment will spill over into lots of other things

Although I am self employed I don't actually work from home much....but I do know that division of labour is much easier with a written down list of who does what.

I don't like the fact DH needs it spelt out, but it doesn't get done if it isn't...

Good luck with growing the business, great you have the drive, 3 small kids could sap it all out of you!

My DH has a very busy stressful job but when I cry that I can't cope (as I have just done as it happens) he will do the ironing, make me a coffee, and perhaps do a bit of cleaning if I am lucky! He would do more if he could I think but he's so busy too. We're both complete workaholics. House is full of dust as a result.

Yes we have this too!
Drives me crazy...

I've tried the chat but Dh isn't telly bothered if the house is clean or not but will cook for the kids basic stuff or at a push order in pizza Hmm

I do find it frustrating...
