Request to convert sick leave to annual leave

any reason I should not do this for a member of staff who is within their probationary period so doesn't get paid any occupational sick pay? Two or three days were taken and now they realise they haven't been paid fir those days they want to take them as retrospective annual leave

We allow it - but for records about how much sickness has been taken it still counts.

No legal problem but like higgle says I'd want to keep an eye on sickness rate and also make sure it is clear the employee has asked for this. If you were to suggest it it could potentially look like fiddling of the statutory holiday required by working time regs.

But if all paperwork in order, no problem.

Thanks all. Id have felt mean saying no, but worry about setting a precedent.
