What is the legal minimum requirement for taking holiday?

Does anyone know what the legal requirement is for taking holiday? I have lots of holiday accrued - mostly due to fact worked part time but had to do lots of extra time that got given time off in lieu for and now I think I have to take the holiday off due to "health and safety " concerns. Is there a legal requirement for how much time off you must take if you work part time? Something like health and safety legislation? Thanks

Have you tried the gov website? Think its direct.gov.uk or something.... that would tell you. There are some legal eagles here though so you might get another response soon......

What does your employment contract state? It should be clear what happens with annual leave and time accrued not taken within a certain period. I would lose it under my terms of employment if I did not take my holiday within the holiday year and have to use up time accrued in a rolling 6 month period. Am not sure why you would not want to take it given that you would be paid for this time.
