Resigning before end of 6-month probationary period

Hi,

I would appreciate some advice from HR/personnel people please.

I started a new job 5 months ago. My contract states that, during my 6-month probationary period, I only need to give one week's notice of my intention to resign. After the 6 months are up, I need to give one month's notice.

Sadly I really hate my job and have already lined up a couple of interviews for potential new jobs. My question is, if I hand in my notice during the last week of my 6-month probationary period, do I have to give 1 week or 1 month's notice?

For example - if my probationary period is up on Weds 30th November (it isn't really this date - I don't want anyone in RL to recognise me!) and I give notice on Friday 26th November, would this be one week's notice or one month? - coz my probationary period is up 5 days after the resignation date iyswim ...

Many thanks for your help. Hope this makes sense!

"My contract states that, during my 6-month probationary period, I only need to give one week's notice of my intention to resign. "

Up to the end date (ie the date on which you have been there 6 months) you need to give one weeks notice. HTH

Fantastic, thank you. That's what I thought, but I needed a second opinion! Just need to get another job now ...
