How to demonstrate that you are genuine in a job application open question?

DH is currently job searching and has come across a job that he thinks he'd be perfect for.

He's filled in all of the job application with the exception of one open question which asks him to demonstrate that he is genuine.

DH is the most genuine person that I know, too much so in my opinion occasionally , but how on earth do you demonstrate that? What sort of experiences would show this?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I think you have to think of what kind of skills the job is looking for and what kind of job it is and answer it from there - so if it was a sales jobs it would one answer - and if it was say a social worker another kind of answer - so have a look at the job spec and job desciption and try and guess what they are looking for. It's a position in customer service but there is another question that says something along the lines of "Explain how you meet each of the person specification requirements" and "Explain what qualities/skills you would bring."

So we're a bit unsure how he should go about answering this one. We thought it'd be best to provide details of a situation where DH has proven himself as genuine but not quite sure. Do you think it needs to be a working situation?

It probably wouldn't be sufficient to say it was important to be genuine in his current role because ... would it?

Would it be OK to say something along the lines of "Has an honest approach when mistakes have occurred." As he's one of the few people I know who can say "Sorry, we made a mistake" and yet always have the customer feel satisfied afterwards - even if the original mistake made the issue drag out.

Most people seem to try to avoid admitting mistakes and lots of companies don't like it (his current company were unsure at first until they realised the results). Do you think if he said something like this the company he's applying to would worry that his honesty would cause problems?

Does it mean to prove he is a genuine person, or prove that he genuinely wants this job?

yes take an example of the customer service he resovled which demonstrated this - with a good outcome of course - make it fairly detailed I would think- sounds like your DH is good at building rapport with customers and getting them to trust him so that is I am sure what they are looking for
and also add on comments about the over all results as well
