Should I say I want part time work when writing a speculative letter?

I am writing to a company I really want to work for part time. I can't decide whether it would enhance my letter - i.e. they could buy my expertise for half the money - or whether it would hinder my chances - i.e. I wouldn't look as "committed". What do you think?

how about ' i can be flexible with my hours'

It might not be a good idea to say part-time as such. Even though they might get you for less, they'd be getting less of you, so not really a benefit. I would agree about saying you can be flexible, then discuss part-time down the line when they're completely sold on you.

If you're writing a speculative letter about general opportunities that may be available, rather than applying for a particular post that is being advertised, then I would state how many hours per week you are looking for - rather than letting them assume it'd be full time. (I'm an employer and I would far rather know up front).
