Re-trained for dream job now what?

left my career to have dd (now 6 ) also had ds (now 3 ) and have spent the last two years re-training in t.a. and family liaison. DP was self employed, hard worker and was able to cover bills etc but has broken back and cannot work now :(
So we've slipped into the benefit trap ( can't believe I've gone from being a company buyer to this Angry )
Now I'm trained can't see how I can afford to go back to work - would have to be part time as I'm dp's carer. never felt so worthless :(
Anyone got any advice ??????

Have you been given info re carers support?

You may be eligible for some kind of help.

We are looking into that at the moment but just feel like the more benefit help I accept the harder it may become to get back off them Confused

There may be other kind of support available, practical support rather than financial. Social services have a duty to help carers stay in employment if they want to.

However, saying that, councils are also cutting back massively on what they will provide.

In our area the council has a carers resource centre who offer advice etc. It may be worth looking on your local authority website to see what they do.

Good luck.

Thanks for your advice will try local council you never know!?!

Maybe I'll just have to wait a while until ds is in school which will free up more of my time.
Always got mn release my frustration :o
