Bugger - think I've missed out on a referral fee - help!

I met a company last year when I was touting for work.

They didn't have any for me but said that, one way that they worked with freelancers, is that people got paid for referrals (i.e. sending business contacts their way which resulted in a commission/contract).

I did just that before Christmas, mainly as a 'you should talk to this person' kind of enthusiasm rather than a calculated business introduction. I also emailed the company in question to tell them this person would be in touch.

I've missed my chance haven't I! I'd had no conversation about what a referral fee might be, or that I was expecting one.

Do I just chalk to up to experience or is there any way I can phrase it now?

Do you know that x has become a customer?

I would just approach the company, follow up about x and position it that you might refer others, so can they tell you about their referal scheme?

You have nothing to loose from asking and understanding their scheme...

Good luck.
