What is Oscars?

Its a pet food/accessory franchise. Uk wide I think - this is a resale of a franchise in my area. Seems to be fairly successful - but just wondering if anyone had any experience - or know of anyone who's got an area?

My neighbours do this and have been trying to get out for years but t hey are tied In. They don't find it profitable. That's all I can say as don't have lots of detail. I'd just say tread carefully

Thanks Boo - I think this franchise area is profitable - but not making a fortune and is v. hard work for the money.

If it's profitable, why are they selling it?

Ask to see the last three year's management accounts.
If they are not willing, there will be a reason.

I think (reading between the lines) it's hard, physical work - for not a huge profit.

The franchise people gave me her turnover and profit for last year - which is an ok profit - but she is only selling into 1 area - with a couple of adjacent free areas she's not moved into.

I would prob get someone else to help me with the 'lugging' the big bags of dog food around though. So I prob wouldn't take home as much profit as she does(after paying help) - but it would be extra income as I would keep on my finance clients.

You really do need to see the full set of accounts for the last three years as Talkin said, not some heavily doctored summary from the franchisor.
