Business idea - match-making service for self employed people

I've had a vile day workwise and feel ready to give up. But I got to thinking, maybe this would all be better if I had someone to work with. A partner of sorts, just so that I didn't feel quite so alone. But finding someone is hard.

Then I had an idea - what about setting up a match-making service of sorts for people who run their own businesses or want to run their own businesses but would benefit from teaming up with someone with complementary skills - but just don't know where to look. I have no idea how I'd make money out of it, but what do you think freelancers/self-employed bods? Would a service like this be useful to you? Do you think you'd feel more confident starting something up/growing it knowing that you weren't in it alone.

Wouldn't it be ironic if there was something in it and I had to set it up on my own for lack of someone to do it with. :)

Could you create a group and use linkedin.

connyrabbit · 03/12/2010 13:32

Desperetely looking for exactly that! Let me know when you're launching! Tracy is right though, LinkedIn is a good start...

I think you are absolutely right.

Another one looking for just this!

I would love to set up my own business. I have a bit of money put aside and am good at the paperwork/accounts (am a qualified accountant) but am just lacking in ideas about how to make my millions!

I would love to team up with someone so let me know if you decide to take this any further

Yep. This is a great idea. I have a (brilliant :o) business idea that I am trying to develop into a reality but I really need the support and motivation of a partner.

I think it would have to work geographically in order to be of any use...

I've been actively looking for something like this and think its a great idea; but not just for new businesses - I've been running a business for 6 years and would love someone who was not 'involved' with the business to bounce ideas off.

For years I have used the ebay business seller board as a virtual water cooler...
some excellent advice from some very experienced business people from all ages and all locations
