Any wedding dress shop owners out there....

I would love to set up my own shop, and am tired of sitting around thinking about it, and would actually like to get off my behind and make it happen. However, I have questions which I hope some kind soul might answer....

How does it work re samples and designers - do they vet you to see if you are suitable to stock their dresses? Do they lend samples for free based on you sending a certain value of orders per year or do you buy samples? What's the mark-up (ie how many dresses do you need to sell per month to cover rent etc)?
Anything else that's vital to know? Realistically, I would need to take home £25k a year to pay my bills - so is it financially viable?
How much of a loan did you need from a bank to get started?

Thanks so much in advance.

I saw the entire stock of a wedding dress shop for sale in a charity shop today
two doors down from a struggling one
and NOBODY is going to book weddings until they know which day the Windsor bash will be
and NOBODY will book for that weekend
be warned

I'm not a wedding boutique owner, but I do stock bridal boutiques (jewellery) so I know a little bit about it by association, you pay for the sample dresses to have in the shop, they don't lend them, so yeah, you have to buy them. Hope that helps a bit.
