Can you claim MA if you quit your job?

Hi all, as it says, if you are pregnant and finding your job hard work can you quit and still claim maternity allowance?

I worked during a first pregnancy and am returning to the same employer but knowing how the long hours affected my first pregnancy if I fell pregnant a second time whilst there (I am returning), I am not sure I'd be able to stick it out again!

Thanks xx

The short answer is yes.

The long answer is why?

Why are you claiming MA instead of SMP?
Have you asked for reduced hours?
Did your employer do a pregnancy assessment on your working environment?
Need more deatails!

dont stick it out

if the pregnancy makes the job too difficult, get a sympathetic doc to sign you off. 4 weeks before due date start claiming maternity pay.

if the alternative is to resign, you'd be mad not to.
