Hi All,

I have been invited for interview for a part time SBM post. The selection process includes a series of practical tasks and a formal interview. Can anyone give me some advice on what to expect?

Also, if any current SBMs have any advice on the role it would be good to hear from you. I've been a SAHM for the past 2 years and am really excited to hav an interview, but am also very nervous.

Many thanks.

Hi! I've got an interview for an SBM role next week as well as a presentation I have two written tasks and a group task to complete. Does anyone have any idea what might be included? I'm researching the school improvement plan and linking to the wording of the job description, but just wondered what else to expect! Any and all words of advice greatly received!

Hi I’ve been shortlisted for an SBM in a campus secondary, primary and nursery school. I’ve got a panel interview with the management team, an interview with the school council and a formal interview where I have to do a presentation for the Chair of Governors, the Chair of the Resource Committee and the Executive Head Teacher but don’t know the presentation details until I get there. Has anyone got any tips, interview questions etc. Would be much appreciated xx

Hi all, I’m currently the finance manager at a large primary and have an interview on Tuesday for an SBM post at a different school. I completed my CSBM in December and have been looking for roles since then. I went for preliminary meeting last week with the current admin team and that went well (I think?!). I have to give a 5 minute presentation with no visual aids or handouts etc on the following:

In the school office there is a mixture of processes and procedures, some relatively new and others more established. How will you set about the task of analysing those that are fit for purpose and those that need improving?
How would you then go about implementing any required changes?

Any tips? I’m thinking of saying that I would use a SWOT analysis of the processes alongside a list of identified requirements....

It’s so tough, and I REALLY want this job!!

@Jinny1812 did you find anything useful?

I'm at a crossroads and realise I have been stuck doing somethign where I feel there's no contribution in a wider sense. I spent a lot of my earlier career in the third sector so am looking at what I could do which I would find more rewarding.

I've seen a few SBM posts advertised but they all require previous SBM experience. I managed an office some years ago, and have taught (but don't want to go back to teaching), am IT savvy and good with people so I think it might well suit me. but I don't have the role experience.

Has anyone who's moved into this role from a different role, got any useful tips to share? TIA.
