Im so sorry to raise this again as I know its been done a million times before but...

I've read all the posts and googled and I still can't get my head round it. Im currently querying the position with HR but need to understand it myself first. To keep it simple if I just say how I think it works for PT employees can someone tell me whether im right or not please.

Right, full time employee gets 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays. I, as a Part time employee working 3 days, am
entitled to 15 days holiday plus 5 bank holidays. So I get 15 days holiday, plus 5 bank holidays and for the other 3 BH's I will have to use my holiday entitlement.

Is this right? or am I still wrong (probably!)?

Just had another thought....

or should I just consider that I have 20 days holiday, 5 of which have to be taken on BH's. Likewise a FT worker has 33 days holiday, 8 of which have to be taken on BH's.

I really hope my brain starts working before I go back to work. Too long on maternity leave!

Yes that's right, assuming all the 8 bank holidays fall on your normal working days (which would be unusual, are you sure that's the case?), then you will need to use holiday for 3 of them.

Thanks Flowery,

Just checked and 6 fall on my working days next year. So I guess only have to use 1 day of my holiday allowance for this giving me 14 other days to use when I want.

Hurrah, I finally understand it. Seems fair enough to me!
