Hi. I have just returned to work and will be earning 6 weeks money in my first wage as I joined just after a pay date. I have opted to received child care vouchers. However when I asked whether I will be getting 2 months worth (or at least 6 weeks on the basis that I will be getting 6 weeks money)of vouchers I was told that the vouchers cannot be backdated (I am not sure what this means in this context) and that I will only get a months worth even though I have actually worked for 6 weeks. Does this sound correct?

Also I have currently been given no information as to how the vouchers work on a practical level so I wil probably get the full bill from the nursery for November as they currently know nothing about the vouchers. Many thanks

You get an account that the vouchers get paid into.

You then log into you account and make a payment to the child care provider. You have to get their registration ID number so that you can do this.

Which voucher scheme?
Don't know the answer to your first question, and the second bit varies a bit between schemes but usually you give the nursery details to the voucher providers and they will send out the necessary forms (assuming they are not already registered).
