I'm a student midwife due to qualify in 6mths. My DD starts school in Jan (will still have a DS at full-time nursery too). I am finding that after-school clubs want at least 6wks notice of which days you require in the week - have tried to explain that my shift pattern varies week to week and rarely get more than one month ahead of time. They seem to think that you should just pay-up for the entire month whether you use it or not. This is v.expensive on midwife's salary!
