Career breaks - anyone on one or know anything about the conditions of taking them?

Trying to find some information about career breaks.

Bit of background.....just returned to work after having ds2 following maternity leave and a long period of pregnancy related sickness.

Am going back 4 days per week instead of five. I have to work 13 weeks in order to meet the conditions of maternity pay.

I seem to remember reading somewhere about career breaks following maternity but can't remember what or where.

ANyway - is anyone on a career break? Is there a website about guidelines for applying and any legislation (flexible family working?????) that may be of use to me?

TIA

I've been told the maternity alliance website is really good for this sort of advice but I can't say I've checked it myself.

I would have thought that career breaks are at the discretion of the employer. I know mine, for instance, allows you take up to 12 months but it's purely down to your Line Manager agreeing and it has nothing to do with maternity rights.

I'm no expert though so maybe the website can help. Good luck.
