Fed up with delays after applying for jobs

Hi not sure if anyone can shed light on this, but I have been applying for jobs since June/July (had a brilliant but temporary job before I had DS) and find it infuriating that despite my efforts to fill in long and detailed application forms and send them in on time, employers take up to 3 weeks (and longer) to even acknowledge that they have received my application form! One job I applied for was for a part time clerical officer and the closing date was early August. I phoned them last week to find out if they had received the application and they said they were having some delays in shortlisting. It's not a senior management position FFS, how long does it take?!
Am really annoyed at this because I am under a lot of pressure financially.

Delays often mean either:

  1. so many applicants it is taking ages to even read the CV/application form

or

  1. so few applicants they have extended the deadline

Good luck

I feel your pain - DH has been in similar position lately and it's awful just hanging on...on the other hand I am trying to recruit someone now and have been inundated with applications which are going to take weeks to go through even though if only a part time job.

Thanks for your insight, I didn't even think about the fact that they are probably receiving a massive volume of applications and it takes a while to shortlist.
Will have to learn to be patient!
