Hi
im not training to be a midwife but i did start college last year doing design and media, my son was 2
so ive now done my hnc will be doing my hnd this year while he is 3 then im supposed to do 2 years in uni if i want my degree so this mean my last year of uni will be my sons first year in P1 wich is going to be impossible as their is no way i can travel so far to uni and get my son into a local skl from where i live every day (I have no family or friends that can help with this situation, you might have people to help with situations like this so it might not be a prob) so i would work out what will work best for u
i feel like ive worked so hard last year but im faced with this brick wall because i never thought of timing issues to start with, like when my son will start skl,

cant really say about workload as every subject is different,i struggled at times but if its something u really want to do then u will get their in the end

good luck with it

Hi Lilly, its hard to work it all out really cos when my daughter goes to school the bus will pick her up at the house but i will have to leave at 7 to get to uni for 9.. the bus wont come till 8ish.. my aunte lives 5mins down the road and her son is the same age as my daughter so hopefully she'll be able to help out. but i want my daughter to go to the local nursery so she knows the people she goes to school with but it looks like im gonna have to put her to nursery near my uni... its something that i have to do for me and my daughter its just the guilt of leaving her... i can see me waiting till she starts school.. good luck with your course and i hope you find away round your son going to school and you going to uni cos at the end of it all you'll get a job and be able to have a better live for your family, well thats how it is for me.x

Hi allana,

i'm hoping to do midwifery in sept 2011.

it is a really competitive course, they have 20 places per year with over 400 applicants.

even though i'm already a qualified nurse i have been out of nursing for six years having my three children. I am taking a module at university this sept. to boost my CV.....you have to have done something academic within the last five years, the module is part of a sciences degree and i have to get a distinction grade.

i have four scottish highers and have been to university twice, but it is such a competitive course they turn down school leavers with three A alevels.....i won't know if i get on the course until next June!

i don't know your circumstances but you need a lot of prep time to make sure you look like the best candidate on paper.

it may be different at other universities but this one is very hard to get on to. good luck!
