'Showing Her Pen*s': Transgender Convicted Killer Accused of Harassing Women in Swedish Prison

Female inmates at Sweden's Ystad women's prison have accused Lily Abdelshahed of sexual misconduct and indecent exposure. The allegations include claims that she exposed her genitals and made other prisoners feel unsafe.

Abdelshahed, an Egyptian national formerly known as Paulus Abdelshahed, is serving a life sentence for murdering her two children in Södertälje in April 2024. She was transferred from the high-security Tidaholm prison to a women's facility after changing her legal gender and name.

On 11 October several inmates and staff had raised concerns about her conduct. A police investigation into a complaint of sexual molestation was closed because of insufficient evidence. The allegations have not been established in court.

One inmate told said that Abdelshahed walked around in a short nightgown, 'showing her penis.' Other accounts described alleged unwanted touching and attempts to enter shared shower or laundry areas while women were present.

But more because it is now a legal case, rather than the issue itself.

Anyone who believes a convicted male murderer should be in a women's prison is either too stupid to be in a responsible job or too wicked to be given any power over others. Or both.

It is very strange that a country this supposedly advanced can be so idiotic, and downright abusive to women.

Anyone involved in making it possible for a male to be in a female prison needs to be locked up for a night in a cell with said male. Give them a glimpse of what the females have to endure, and some insight into what a horrific situation they have enabled and condoned.

No - not locked up with that male - with a more "appropriate" male...

Truly evil. I definitely wouldn’t describe this double child murderer as the most disadvantaged.

It seems as though nothing will change until female inmates are seriously assaulted. Their complaints are currently being dismissed. Who would ever want to live in such a progressive country where women's rights to safety and dignity are non existent?

Its just an extreme example of how captured groups and politicians lose touch with reality.

Although actually so easily able to dismiss from their minds having equal support for women.

Who in their right mind would think placing a male in a female prison would be anything but a catastrophe.

Its as though male violence against women, and women being subjected to sexual violence is just a myth.
