Carla Georgescu was found dead with horrific injuries that couldn't possibly have been self inflicted. Why did the police tell her mother she appeared to have taken her own life?

[Article is quite graphic.]

They investigated and her stepfather has been charged with her murder. They didn't know initially what they had found, and obviously the immediate issue was to inform her mother of her death. Also - Manchester is not in Preston.

It could be pure incompetence. There was a murder in Scotland recently where the body was riddled with shotgun pellets, and the policeman who was first on the scene reported it as a fall.

It's awful from plod, but at least the guy has been charged with murder.

Another stepdad killing his child smh I assume he made a pass at her and she was obviously disgusted and he lashed out for fear she would speak out.

I had a friend who grew up with a step dad from around age 8-15. Her bio dad had died when she was very young so the step dad was basically like her father. When her mum and stepdad broke up she was around 15 and wanted to maintain contact since her stepdad was the only dad she knew. She would stay at his flat some weekends. Long story short when she was around 16 he raped her! Apparently it was out of the blue and he’d never abused her as a kid.

I just read the article after I had posted and I see it was confirmed that yes he was a sick dangerous creep. I wonder what age she was when he came in their lives and if that was his plan all along. Horrific

A student found dead at her halls of residence was murdered by her stepfather - who was 'sexually obsessed' with her - a jury has heard.

Them no knowing immediately what they had found was my point.

Apologies for geographical confuson - I will ask for the title to be edited.

But students from Preston do attend Manchester universities.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · Today 08:09

She was at the University of Lancashire.

It was reported on the in the MEN - which reports on events in the wider N.W region. I see she was a student in Preston.

The first person on the scene will not touch an obviously dead body. You can't always see wounds depending on how the body is lying. If they were found at the bottom of the stairs a fall would be most likely.

That's understandable at a first look.

But by the time they've got as far as identifying the person and informing relatives they should have more idea -particularly when injuries are this extensive and couldn't be hidden by body position. And if not, they shouldn't speculate.

Gruesome and sickening. He was only 14 years older than her which suggests he was younger than his wife. A lot of men with a sexual attraction to children target single mothers, I wouldn't be surprised if there had been other sexual interference and abuse from him towards her over the years.

Difficult to believe his wife had no clue about his obsession.

PrancingPanda · Today 11:03

Absolutely sickening.
Poor Carla.

I don't think you understand how fast that can happen. She was found in her room - her identity was known immediately. And she was found in a way that is consistent with suicide. The immediate issue is then to inform the family while the investigation continues. The extent of her injuries would not have been clear until well after that point.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · Today 11:40

Anyone can be in a room, not just only the resident.

Stabbed in the face and with defensive wounds on the hands is not consistent with suicide. And is pretty damned obvious.

If they really are that incompetent, as I said they should avoid giving speculative answers.

And yet they've managed to be 'incompetent' enough to amass a file of evidence sufficient for the CPS to prosecute.
