Once again Ed Davey shows he is no friend to women

From his Radio 4 interview this morning:

'The Supreme Court created something that we didn't expect.

'We've been working out how to make sure it's implemented properly and we've been waiting for this guidance – it's taken a long time.

'And we think, talking to businesses, they don't think it's clear enough or helpful enough. So we're responding to what other people are saying.'

Words can't express how angry this makes me. He has no idea how women are feeling, has he?

Please, any Lib Dem women still in the party, do what you can to overturn the vote this afternoon

I heard him this morning saying the guidance was “too complex”. Well it’s only complex if you don’t like it.

I must say though, I’d prefer a left wing coalition to a right wing one. Farage and his friends scare me and my mixed race family to death.

And Farage has also promised to get rid of the Equality Act, so goodbye to legislation that has protected women from unlawful discrimination since 1975.

I agree, Farage is scary. I can't agree that the right wing is worse than the left wing at this point, though. I'm scared by all of the fuckers.

The issue is if a big portion of left - Greens and Lib Dems both agree that biology is not real -- then Farage gets to fight on easy mode.

It is a wedge issue. It is so crazy it even pulls apart parties that believe it in internal fights.

Tbf Sarah Olney only became an mp in 2016 - she won the by election caused by Zac Goldsmith standing down to run for Conservative mayor of London and she has held it ever since, with an ever increasing majority. But why?

The only other party that has a chance of winning in her constituency is the Conservatives, and they would have lost a huge chunk of the local vote after Brexit, and more recently because eventually everyone hated the Conservatives.

The constituency was Lib Dem from 1997 until 2010 (when Cameron managed to convince Richmond types that the Conservatives were no longer nasty) and Richmond Council is 100% Lib Dem.

Before 1997 much of the constituency was Richmond and Barnes, and that was Conservative through the Thatcher years, but with only a small majority over the Liberals.

Many locals will like the LibDems' consistent opposition to the third runway at Heathrow, even when they were in government.

The SC didn't create anything, it gave us clarity on an existing law, which is what it's supposed to do, why oh why did you not expect them to do that ED.

I feel another email to Sarah coming on. She wants to stand as Lib Dem candidate for London Mayor and of course there is a lot of competition from the Greens, so I suspect that explains her going out to bat on this issue as several years ago she seemed quietly supportive of the gender critical position.

I used to feel that the LDs were a safe, middle-of-the-road option.
Currently I can't vote Green, Labour, LD or Reform. They're all just different colours of bonkers, with Reform and the Greens even more bonkers than the other two.

I'd be breaking the habit of a lifetime if I voted Tory.

I have never been as demoralised by the state of politics in the UK as I am now, and I thought it was bad a few years ago.
