Saw a short report on CNN about this - sounds horrific. I wonder how this would have been treated pre-Pelicot however, as I suspect they would have written it off as a sex act gone wrong. She has opened the door for this to be taken seriously and police to be aware across the globe. I hope there is as much evidence to put them away for good. Who would get married these days? 😔

It’s getting worse and right now in the UK anytime someone tries to point out it’s largely a male issue, and misogyny/femicide is a crisis that needs dealing with we get told by a certain type of person to blame the minority non-white and/or immigrant population of males, conveniently taking the focus off the majority of the men.

We are going to see more and more cases of this. I am sure it’s been happening for a while but thanks to tech it’s getting easier to uncover these kind of crimes.

I fear you are right. So many grubby little men who previously would have kept their thoughts to their own bedrooms are now emboldened.

I read that the police apparently did believe the husband when he said that it was a sex act gone wrong but there was a postmortem which found otherwise.

Not sure if they did actually believe him or were just following procedure until there had been a postmortem, but I'd assume in such cases there would always be a postmortem regardless of the Pelicot case.

How many more of these men are there? I'm imagining a huge underground network.

Yes I read similar afterwards, it was the PM that showed she had been drugged and the level of violence used. Underrated job - I know they are struggling to get people to do it, but clearly how they are the last defenders of women in many cases. Police still take men's word as gospel even in suspicious circs. Long way to go.

I seem to remember reading the sites that Pelicott shared his videos and "tips on how to drug your wife" had tens of thousands of viewers across the world.

I am now an old woman. And only now I understand what many men are.

"I think what we're seeing here that makes this different is the technologically enabled element and the international co-oridnation," Leary told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

"We're seeing large networks of individuals sharing information online, using technology to exchange content," he added.

The 270 individuals identified since October 2025 were linked to one particular online forum and associated websites.'

I wish it was possible to express to these types of men just how deeply loathsome they are. I’d write more, but it definitely would not be “in the spirit!”
