The Swaminarayan group requested no female attendance because their priests take a vow of celibacy which require them not to be in the vicinity of any female

BAPS says the segregation of men and women was introduced for the benefit of women, but critics say 18th-Century beliefs have no place in today's world, and keeping women out in the name of religious practices is discriminatory.

I know someone whose mother has spent weeks working on the preparation for the temple they're talking about, unpaid.

What's the problem? You got your women's only spaces now the men are getting there's? So only women are allowed private spaces?

So women get toilets and men get the Eiffel tower. Seems fair 😂

Oh dear.

I know they look almost identical, and I can see how you might have got VERY confused with how difficult it is to comprehend, but the Eiffel Tower is not a public toilet. Or a single sex ward in a hospital. Or even a women’s prison. You could look at some picture of these different things to help you understand.

Completely crazy that women were removed from their workplace to satisfy the completely unnecessary demands of some male visitors.

Treaclewell · 11/09/2026 08:11

The Eiffel Tower has history for this sort of thing, I heard. When, during the Occupation, Hitler wanted to visit, an essential bit of kit from the lift went missing.

The Eiffel Tower is a public space.

(Toilets at the Eiffel Tower, OTOH, are not.)

Technically speaking so is the gym but there are both women and men only gyms this is one day?

Oh dear, why the vitriol about female spaces? You do understand why female people need them don’t you?

So when is the No Men Allowed Day at the Eiffel Tower?

What nonsense, anyway, because this is about a state that emphasises secularism and egalitarianism kowtowing to religion and misogyny.

lindilen · 13/09/2026 14:10

Religious mysogynists wanting to climb up a giant phallic symbol without any women to distract them 🙄

Ridiculous that the Eiffel Tower management just waved this through, seemingly without a thought to the optics.
