Interesting BBC wording in coverage of kidnapping case (nb the facts are quite horrible)

Apologies if it's already got a thread - just noticed this very carefully worded BBC report about a convicted kidnapper who was called Sean but now appears to be known as "Safiya Anna"...

I agree a massive improvement by the BBC and using correct pronouns for the victim but not the attacker.

So, an attempted kidnapping. I hate to think what he had planned for her if she hadn't fought him off. Im assuming this is a case of prison-onset GD. I don't doubt his defence will play the vulnerable and marginalised card. That because of his her 'gender distress/dysphoria' something, something, actually he's she's the victim here. He'll She'll have a terrible time in prison because trans. Sex offenders often do, apparently, I don't see why that should affect sentencing.

I'm glad the Beeb avoided adding insult to the injury already suffered by the woman he targeted. I remain to be convinced that was the reason. It's as likely that there are flickering embers of sanity within their staff and/or they were more concerned about making transwomen look bad. They never call him 'she' but they also never call him 'trans'.
