She's turned down both a peerage and a damehood. I don't understand the latter – it's just a title, like an OBE (which she did accept). Obviously a peerage is a different matter, as it's basically a job (which I bet she'd do really well, but I'd prefer more Strike books, so...).

It amazes me that people swear they know how deceased people would have thought about the erasure of women's rights (thinking of the post saying Lady Di would have stood with them).

All of those angry men in those comments are being total arseholes. It's depressing how many of them froth at women daring to want to keep our human rights and rights to privacy dignity and safety from male bodied people. This and the story from Bern is just really giving me the rage today. Women don't matter at all to these men.
