Sonia Sodha on the EDM

As always, Sonia Sodha is clear and articulate on this topic - the Early Day Motion by the usual TRA MPs wanting the EHRC guidance to be blocked.

She dismantles their arguments point by point, and then gives well deserved praise to the only MP who spoke in support of the guidance:

Finally, an honourable mention for Tracy Gilbert MP who asks -
I welcome the clarity that the code brings for service providers, and I note, too, that Women’s Aid is just one of the organisations that has welcomed it. Can my hon. Friend confirm that the Supreme Court judgment and the code have not revoked any rights for anyone, but have confirmed single-sex rights that protect women and girls?

Tracy Gilbert is the Labour MP for Edinburgh North And Leith - yet another Scottish woman who won't wheesht. You can email her to thank her if you like. I did.

Sonia Sodha is wonderful. She is so articulate, calm, and reasonable.

And somehow, despite being so wonderful, she still gets published and appears in the media!

Thanks for this, OP. Nice, clear, concise writing from Sonia. The only ones who won't understand her points are those who do not want to.

KnottyAuty · 03/06/2026 23:10

Thanks for this

If it does come to a debate, Tracy Gilbert will be able to use the points in the article to slay the zombies with. 🥳

Thanks OP. Have PM’d you about a related matter.

I'm a numpty. Thanks to @AlexandraLeaving for giving me the heads up.

I've written about the dishonesty of the MPs opposing the EHRC's Code of Practice on single-sex services https://t.co/0dDN04Fx1e

I emailed Tracy Gilbert to say thanks for speaking out and she's replied saying she will continue to champagne on this issue.🥳
So 1 MP on the side of sanity. 😁
