In the light of another thread about JKR's private use of female pronouns for a friend who is a trans-identified man, FWR posters may be interested in Julie Bindel's interview with transsexual (his own term for himself). It's on her Substack, and as a podcast.

It's really interesting and perhaps gives context to JKR's choices about how she interacts with her friends.

I don't think anyone can doubt Ms Bindel's deeply-grounded feminist work for women, for feminism, and for working-class women particularly. This interview is a wonderful piece of work from her.

The first regretter to speak out publicly

Claudia McLean's memoir, Rejected, tells the harrowing story of a brutalised child, a young gay man in love, and being railroaded into "sex change surgery".

I read the article last week. I think I posted it on the JKR thread but I'm not sorry to see it in its own thread. I'm not on TwiX but I had a look at Claudia's account. He's very clear that he's male. I think i understand why friends of someone like him, who has been through what he has, will be willing to do what they can to ease the situation he's been left to live in. If I knew him I might do the same.

I'm not in the market for his book. I've got a backlog of others I want to buy and a mountainous tbr pile but if it pops up as a bargain on kindle I might take a punt.
