I am incandescent at this. Why was a man claiming to be a woman only AFTER he’d committed murder pandered to and indulged at all by being sent to a women’s prison? For fucks sake!

I hope JKR can support the victim to sue the Scottish government.

To clarify - he shouldn’t have been in a women’s prison at all irrespective of when he “transitioned” but why was it not seen for the clear piss take it was. How did our institutions effectively get to implement de facto self ID despite it never being the law?

paintedpanda · 25/04/2026 07:07

State mandated sexual assault. Nice.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 25/04/2026 07:12

The first article I read claimed it was a mixed sex prison. Which it now is, but I don’t think that’s what they were meaning!

DrBlackbird · 25/04/2026 07:43

Agree that the fact that he was imprisoned in 2013 for murder and then 3 years later allowed to move to the female estate does point to how they knew he was a man in the first instance but still were prepared to accept the magic of gender.

The alleged attack is said to have occurred in a hairdressing salon at the jail, where Stewart worked.

So a male imprisoned for murder is allowed to use/access scissors? I really feel that the world has gone insane.

NaomiCunninghamHasHadHerWeetabixAgain · 25/04/2026 11:30

I had a long conversation about this with my local MSP during the campaign and his view was about balancing rights, blah blah, and then dropped in when I challenged him on this, he said, "I'm on the Equalities Committee you know" to which my response was, "So it's your fault then?" There is nothing for anyone to be proud of in standing back and allowing this to happen. 'Balancing rights' has allowed the conditions in which this was not only likely, but has been reported on before. A damn disgrace that a woman has to carry this for the rest of her lives....that it's a woman who is now suffering and women who have had to carry this risk and this threat tells you they know fine bloody well what a woman is, and neither do they actually care.

I think it would be good for Alex Stewart to get the same sort of publicity as Isla Bryson.

Helleofabore · 25/04/2026 06:05

Yep. If they could convince decision makers to actually allow those male people to be housed with women in women’s prisons, then they would have (and did ) achieved the ultimate policy win. All the rest would trickle down.

Denton? Oh yes. It was their clear plan.

Helleofabore · 26/04/2026 09:02

Wearenotborg · 26/04/2026 06:52

Denton? Oh yes. It was their clear plan.

Yes. But I also remember James Morton saying this was a strategy. Now she is really someone who disregards women’s needs in her own desperate need to be validated.

NoNoNoNo, this never happens!

Tallisker · 26/04/2026 11:54

I read something quite a while ago about the women’s prison running a fitness competition, and women prisoners being interviewed about it. They said there was no point training for the competition as the transwomen fellow prisoner would win everything, being a man. I think this is the same bloke, the photo is familiar. This was perhaps 10 years ago. What a shitshow!

lcakethereforeIam · 26/04/2026 15:10

Yes. I remember that too. It is the same man. He confirmed at the court case he was involved in relatively recently (defamation?) the only 'gender affirming surgery' he's had was having his madam's apple shaved. He had the pockets of the Scottish taxpayer open to him but he wasn't woman enough to want to lose his penis. Still woman enough for the SPS, the SNP and the Greens.

The replies on the Scotland sub reddit were mostly sensible when I looked. The replies on the unitedkingdom sub are overwhelmingly pro TRA bullshit. Even when a male who wants to be a woman does something like this the idiots hold the line. He's just another woman apparently, women assault each other all the time, this is normal, it is outrageous hateful bigotry to focus on his trans status because he is a woman and the fact that he's a male with male strength and male genitalia doesn't mean anything, placing him in that prison was the right choice...

I’ve never understood this argument. Women in prison sometimes do horrible things to each other, so it’s fine to make it more dangerous by putting men into women’s prisons.

Its like saying I have a fish tank and sometimes the fish fight and even kill each other. So let’s add in a shark.

I'd not bet against prison officers being able to sue for being forced to treat men as women, and vice versa.

SwirlyGates · 27/04/2026 20:27

So that would be yet more public money down the trans toilet.

Helleofabore · 27/04/2026 22:22

Hoardasurass · 27/04/2026 18:42

I hope that women get justice somehow. They probably don't want to have to go through this, but the prison services have let women down so badly around the world over this issue.

I commented on that thread replying to someone who defended trans women prisoners but said "maybe there could be a problem, perhaps we should look for data" and my post below was deleted as hate speech!!

"There is data out there about trans women prisoners. The majority of them are sex offenders. They should not be held in women's prisons (and thankfully the majority are not).
https://committees.parliament.uk/writtenevidence/18973/pdf/
See section 2, page 3.
Comparisons of official MOJ statistics from March / April 2019 (most recent official count of transgender prisoners):
76 sex offenders out of 129 trans women in prison = 58.9%
125 sex offenders out of 3,812 women in prison = 3.3%
13,234 sex offenders out of 78,781 men in prison = 16.8%"

I'm not going to bother appealing as there is no point but wow. I didn't even misgender anyone, it's literally just facts. Inconvenient facts, sure, but still facts.

A movement based on the claim that humans can change sex isn’t going to have much respect for facts!

But thanks for posting that very clear evidence that trans-identifying men are more than three times likelier than other men to be convicted of sexual offences.

FireHorse2026 · 28/04/2026 15:28

"Here we go again with more drama. Another news case that will be used to intesify the hate towards us that make it seem acceptable brand us as sexual devients all because of a very very small number of people like in any demographic."

The entirely predictable title and commentary of the Reddit thread that has just appeared (on transUK) regarding this news story. When are they going to look at the data and realise that trans identifying men in prison ARE sexual deviants. The evidence is irrefutable and there are so many "good" motivations men in prison have to claim trans status (access to victims, better conditions). It's infuriating that they don't seem to understand.

FireHorse2026 · 28/04/2026 16:21

Wow I'll eat a tiny piece of my hat...the top comments on the Reddit thread are as reasonable as I've ever seen on there. They don't go all the way ofc but it's something to open up the discussion.

The attempt to sound "reasonable" is purely due to the fact that the apologists for trans everything/everywhere need to try, somehow, to separate the "real" trans from the "fake" trans (ie the good from the bad) so they can claim that every trans-identified man who commits a crime is not "one of them."

It's just a disingenuous attempt to keep the illusion going that trans-identified men are the most vulnerable victims to ever walk the planet. It's truly shocking to see how quickly they turn on "one of their own " if he dares to stray from their rulebook of the path to righteousness.

Possibly but I felt like the comment acknowledging that they knew quite a few trans identifying male sexual predators was unusually forthcoming and reflective.

Love your username!

Thank you, can't really take credit because it was something someone else said on another thread, and I thought, I'm having that! 😆

Yes, it is tempting to be encouraged by certain comments, I think I've just gone way beyond giving any activist any kind of rope at this point.

But, we can live in hope.

Hoardasurass · 27/04/2026 18:42

Oh hooray.

It was total dereliction of duty of care. Knowingly, intentionally. To prove a stupid political performed belief that these men are some kind of woman. With full intention that the risk to women should be handwaved away. While still maintaining the obviously belief that men and women should be housed in separate prisons because of risk to women.

The SCJ laid the path for this.

In court it will be found: they are men. There are no circumstances in which they are not.

There is no bar for these men: there is no way to separate this group from any other men.

Women's safety and rights were compromised to further a political conceit. From a male dominated govt with a long track record of misogyny and sexism.

It won't remove the damage and trauma from the women, but compensation would help. And the dragging of it through the papers and the public costs will concentrate more minds wonderfully.
