I can barely believe each episode; the unique situation of a cult abuser becoming more and more megalomaniacal and abusive being filmed in real time, willingly, and how that footage became the evidence against him, is astonishing. Christine Marie and her Husband Tolaga are remarkable.

But it’s the way the girls were so easily manipulated, fooled and groomed. And abused. The fear and fawning that became devotion, and complete brain washing. A joint social contagion that seemingly was rooted in a deep drive to survive and reach heaven.

I can’t help thinking some of their behaviour may be evolutionarily driven alongside growing up deeply embedded in ideology. And may go some way to explain social anxiety and social contagion amongst young women and girls. The way hormones drive and affect behaviour, confidence and a deep need to belong. (typing as a pretty much post menopausal woman who feels so much stronger now!)
