Helen Joyce Podcast Interviews - MegaThread

UtopiaPlanitia · 20/04/2026 16:45

I tend to binge podcasts that feature Helen as a guest and these are two recent YouTube interviews I've found:

I thought it might be an idea to have a thread in which we collect in one place links to podcasts that feature 'La Joyce'. She does so many interviews that I often miss some, it could be useful to have a crowdsourced list.

If you like the idea, please feel free to add links (from any podcast service) to the thread.

Oh brilliant. I have nothing to post yet, but I’m bookmarking. Thanks @UtopiaPlanitia

UtopiaPlanitia · 20/04/2026 16:50

No worries - glad you like the idea.

I thought other people might also have trouble keeping up with Helen's impressive output in podcast-land 😀

Thanks

Here’s link to her first interview with Spiked a few years ago with Brendan O’Neill.

I’m pretty sure it was the first long form interview where I heard her talk about these issues, and I was so impressed with her clarity and knowledge on the topic.

KnottyAuty · 20/04/2026 17:23

Nice idea thank you

here is a link to the interview she did on Andrew Gold’s Heretics podcast: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=scYnhe4cwE

I must have read somewhere about her being a horrid bigot so i had avoided things with her in, then clicked through from a link on mumsnet. My first thought was that she wasn’t smiling much but shortly followed by the realisation that I agreed with what she was saying so I would be considered a big bad meanie too

HermioneWeasley · 20/04/2026 17:29

Have you listened to her on the “this isn’t working podcast”? It was such a joy to hear her being given the time to make her point and not being rushed so can can hear from the men!

HermioneWeasley · 20/04/2026 17:30

Here’s the link

it’s a really good series, the presenter has a good grasp of all the issues

I though the Spiked interview was especially good (i almost posted it independently when it came out) because it emphasised the way that this movement breaks democracy and society more broadly.

Oh, great idea for a thread, OP.

I'm always going on YouTube and flicking through wondering have I seen that one, I can't remember, resetting the filters, and not trusting the red line 😄

So this is brilliant

I'm having the exact same problem with trying to find new or unwatched YouTube interviews and I have even more difficulty finding podcasts via Apple/Spotify - I thought other people might be having the same issue that could be remedied by the wonder that is FWR crowdsourcing.

Thanks everyone for adding links to get us started 🤗

She is simply brilliant.

This interviewer is great - asks his question and then ... LISTENS to the answer!

Love that accent too - does anyone know where it is from?

UtopiaPlanitia · 22/04/2026 14:52

This is an older interview with Coleman Hughes but I came across it because it was re-posted recently. It's interesting to see Helen discussing this with a young American, to hear a perspective on this issue that isn't from UK & Europe and is from someone young enough to have been raised with Genderism in his education system:

I'm sure it's a very interesting interview. He seems like a thoughtful man.

But I can't help laughing when he's discussing about gender and what it means and how you shouldn't be constrained by it, and I'm already I don't know how far in, and he's just done all the talking.

Coleman is so deliberate in his speaking that I tend to listen to him on 1.5 speed 😆

I had the same issue when Helen was interviewed by Jordan Peterson - he'd ask her questions and then answer them himself or get excited by something she said and start explaining it in depth.

Julia HB (and other TalkTV hosts) have a similar problem, they talk for a living and continue to do it even throughout interviews - drives me bonkers sometimes lol

Some people just don't realise that they hog conversations and it makes them interviewers of frustrating quality.

As a podcast and radio guest, Helen has the patience of a saint 🤯

This is a great idea for a thread. I could listen to Helen Joyce forever. She's so clear and incisive, and also comes across as warm and compassionate. A real class act! Here's my contribution, on the impact of gender ideology on children. No-one says it quite like Helen.

BettyBooper · 23/04/2026 16:06

And this one with Richard Dawkins from a couple of years ago. Haven't listened to it yet so don't know the content. Going to have a listen now....

This was an interesting conversation recorded last year after the SC judgement, it covers a wide range of issues within the topic:

I return to this one every now and again.
Refreshing to hear someone from the other side challenging Helen whilst engaging sincerely. Not as much of a deep dive as some of her other interviews maybe, but very accessible and watchable and a good one to share with people new to the issues.

Melody, the interviewer is likeable. She’s young and kind and doing her best to put forward arguments and not say heretical things but you can watch her being won over in real time by Helen’s logic, clarity and warmth.

Rollstar · 24/04/2026 00:05

Just to add - I don’t think, deep down, Melody is a true believer. More immersed in a culture where GC views are simplified and misrepresented as bigotry.
She comes across as mildly combative at first and is then surprised and disarmed by Helen’s reasonableness. She was expecting something quite different I think.

This is a podcast from a while ago but I really enjoy the podcaster and he has a lot of sex realists on

Oh I like that podcast, how did I manage to miss Helen being a guest 🤦‍♀️

I also have enjoyed her podcasts. I have listened to the Richard Dawkins one a couple of times. I think she is excellent at bringing her understanding and world experience together to tell a great story.

She recently "interviewed" Maya Forstater about how Sex Matters got started and it was very good and helped Maya come across as a completely relateable and incredibly clever all in one go.

Arsewype · 24/04/2026 08:12

Here a few more from Helen;

This is an interview with the Free Speech Union, it really needs to be watched rather than listened to as some of the questions just come up on screen.

I like this one because the interviewer brings up a few sort of push backs and criticisms, but Helen calmy dismantles them with logic and reason beautifully.

And these are two interviews from Stephie Winn’s podcast - she is a licenced therapist in the US.

The first one is actually Helen being the interviewer so she doesn’t talk that much, but it’s still an in interesting listen - there is a lot about young trans people, who Stephanie previously worked with, and they discuss how affirmation only goes against therapeutic principles and the damage it can do.

The second one is more focused on the change in UK law to ban conversion therapy and why it’s not what it seems:

I would also recommend reading Terf Island by Fiona. It follows 4 influential women including Maya and the rise of resistance
