I think it’s a series to take note of and go through with a fine tooth comb. Especially who they’re speaking to.

The Food Programme in this series is now just starting on Radio 4.

It’s extremely good. Kimberly was also really good - she’s a fried the Van Tulleken twins and her main focus is psychiatry and food/ mood. Her series complex is very good too.

I am just in the process of listening to The Food Programme. It makes me both sad and irritated because they seem to be talking about this as though it is an entirely new issue. It isn't. I remember being a teenager in the '90s and it was everywhere. I am sad that there hasn't been much improvement. I'd have said some of the same things as the girls they interviewed.

I also feel this is no different to what we’ve had for decades.

I caught some of this discussion-talking about the pressures on young girls to look good-achieve well in school, do well etc etc. The elephant in the room that wasn't mentioned was the fact every teen has access to violent degrading sexual abuse of women on their phone-until we name and shame prolific porn things will only get worse

Except that social media is a far more powerful mediator

Are they talking about actual girls? I don’t have much faith in R4.

Halfway through they've been talking about actual girls. The substance being very much about biology and sex.

It's always interesting to hear about the complexity of puberty explaining all the vital things it does. It makes clear the self-evident harm that will come from messing around with a normal puberty.

Also, makes me wonder when the trans activists will be pushing for the suppression of the mini-puberty that babies go through not long after birth.

I was only half listening but it was very clear about the role of hormones at puberty and the brain maturing

It was very good especially about the importance of all the complex things puberty does for becoming a healthy, mentally prepared adult human female.
Made me wonder whether such a programme would have been possible a couple of years ago when BBC found it impossible to face human biology head on

About the boys was a series made two years ago. Same team, similar focus but boys.

The puberty expert on this programme stressed the absolutely crucial nature of puberty on healthy development of both brain and body. How any one can believe that preventing a child from going through puberty is anything other than an abusive act is being me.
