So our two visitors upthread (I'm not going to tag them) have posted two examples that are supposed to prove......something...

One is A MAN who entered a women's competition to show how shit their trans-inclusion policy is

The other is A MAN who turned out to be not what he presented as, and was actually a disgusting sex offender

And these are supposed to be some kind of gotchas?

The useful point that they have both accidentally contributed to is that we don’t believe that people of particular perspectives on gender and sex are all good or all bad. Our point is there should never be any group of people who are automatically considered to be zero risk just because they have a particular PC. The hyperbole is usually on one side of the debate, Oh my god, you’re saying ALL trans people are predators!! when we point out that Transwomen are men and are just as capable of causing harm as any other man.

I usually scroll past these particular ploppers but for once they have been useful.

To quote Emma Watson - a woman who wouldn't recognise a logical fallacy if it hit her over the head: "Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren't who they say they are."

So which is it? Is everyone who says they're trans actually trans? Or are some people pretending?

You’re missing the point: the law is responsible for this.

In this case, this guy is (most likely) exploiting a bad law to troll the government. Another man may exploit the same bad law to get access to more women victims in hospitals or at work, or for an easier time in prison. Or whatever.

The point is that regardless of the man’s reasons, the law is not fit for use because it enables this sort of abuse.

So Germany made a law that anyone can choose their sex (in a legal sense) and get documents to state they're actually the opposite sex. No gatekeeping, just self ID.

Almost immediately, a bunch of men (including rapists, murderers, paedophiles and piss takers) decide they're women and get the documents to state that they're women.

Politicians and activists who campaigned for this are surprised and shocked that this has happened.

Nobody on mumsnet is surprised by this because it was fucking obvious it was going to happen.

(IIRC it was the same in Ireland. There was a bizarre quote by a politician or lawyer along the lines of "We didn't realise that when the self-ID law was passed that people would just self ID".)

That’s the 2nd man claiming a trans identity in court for child rape I’ve seen in the UK news this week.

In fact, there’s so many of these cases it’s hard to keep track of how many there are. Also on the increase are men prosecuted for possession of CSAM material who claim as their defence that they offended as a result of gender issues.
