I can confirm that marksandspencer are still discriminating against their female customers. Their store in Shoreham-by-sea has a clearly labelled ‘Men’s fitting room’ and a room labelled ‘Try On’ which can be used by women AND men.

Another recent dreadful experience at MS changing rooms:

They think they can Try it On, but soon it might be TRIAL ON.

Men have a single-sex changing room - women don't this is blatant sex discrimination. It is illegal. M&S think no-one will notice. No-one will do anything. Big mistake.

Let's go folks. Please write a letter of complaint. Be very very unkind.

Say you are willing to fund feminist groups and lawyers that are considering legal action over this clear breach of the Equality Act. Talk about the Supreme Court ruling. Say there is talk of protests, legal cases, shareholder revolt and boycotts on Mumsnet. That you are contacting your MP and the Press. Say you have contacted the EHRC commission which have just warned off a bunch of organisations for anti-women policies.

The EHRC's action followed the Supreme Court judgment in For Women Scotland v Scottish Ministers (April 2025), which confirmed that the terms "man", "woman" and "sex" in the Equality Act 2010 refer to biological sex.

M&S shareholders the AGM is probably going to be in July. Threaten to turn up Denying biological reality and saying women do not exist is not pursuing shareholder value.

Who is behind this sexist trash lets name names the head of the board and the CEO are both men, both get changing room in store. Coincidence?

Archie Norman Chairman

Stuart Machin Chief Executive Officer

Write to your MP/ local councilor ask them to investigate lack of safeguarding at M&S and the refusal to provide changing rooms for women. Lets get Kemi saying stuff etc.

Useful facts

Women do most of the work at M&S and provide billions in sales, BUT don't have changing rooms! Sexist much?

In 2025 Fashion, Home & Beauty (Clothing & Home) division generated a turnover of £4.2 billion, representing a 3.5% increase on the previous year. Womenswear was a huge part of those sales.

Annual Report 2025 - Marks & Spencer - M&S

pg 88
"A more diverse, equitable and inclusive M&S is a critical enabler of the higher‑performance customer-centric culture that we’re aiming for. Creating an environment where everyone can thrive and contribute to the success of M&S is the aim of our diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) strategy, and with 70% of our workforce being women, we continue to focus on both the representation and experience of women in our business.

Representation of women is strong at all levels of the business, and importantly
in our talent pipelines too. We have built stronger rigour around our hiring, talent
and performance routines to ensure women have equal access to development
and progression opportunities. Women account for over 50% of our senior leaders, over 50% of our store leadership teams and 70% of colleagues on internal development programmes. We also have no disparity in performance and talent ratings between men and women.
We have an ongoing ambition to be the leading employer for women in retail.
Early progress included improved support for those taking and returning from
family leave, better flexible working options, and increased awareness and
support for women’s health and life changes, with a particular focus on
menopause. We’ve built on this recently, with continued commitment to support
in significant moments – demonstrated by our signing of the Miscarriage
Association’s Pregnancy Loss Pledge. "

FFS, why do blokes always have what they need but we're supposed to suck it up!! It's the same with the wording of services and products.
