Am I going mad? This article was in our local paper last week, ok it’s the People’s Republic of Camden. It isn’t 1st April is it? I think I need to write a strongly worded letter as Outraged from Hampstead. I’d love to hear what others think

‘Challenging taboos’ ….fgs if you remove the taboo status from a particular kink then at least some of the people will feel the need to up the ante and find something that is still taboo.

I saw far weirder things than that in Camden back in my day...

Write a letter if it pleases you, although in all honesty I don't think you'll get anywhere.

Campaign to make fetish seem mundane. Where's the fun in that?

GarlicFound · 28/02/2026 14:07

It's a publicity stunt for a dating app that aims to match male subs with female doms, isn't it? All the rest is just waffle about 'marginalisation' and 'visibility' shit.

I really dislike people making their sexual preferences 'visible'. I don't want to be forced to think about what they do in private. But I guess they're entitled to try and find compatible partners.

Publicity stunts have to be stupid to get publicity. But if they only got coverage in one Camden newspaper it isn’t much.

are you complaining that the council allowed the stunt to take place or something else?

Additup · 28/02/2026 14:29

It's all just an advert for a sub/dom dating app 🤷‍♀️
People making money that's all.

There really is an xkcd for everything isn't there.

I cant really read any of the image of the article, and cant find it on the Camden New Journal web site.

But as other has commented, this seems almost "normal" by Camden Lock standards.

Sadly there have always been groups of usually young people who think they are being frightfully, frightfully daring by going in for stunts like this.

Havind seen couples walking round if skin tight leather from head to toe, with one on a lead (sex not clear of either person as so tightly encased including head with leather) this almost seems old fashioned.

Not that I am saying its okay.

But depressing as it seems each generation doesn't in fact learn from the previous one.

And that’s how we escalated to the state women’s rights are in today. Men who used to get their kicks from wearing women’s underwear in secret now openly trespass in women’s spaces and demand that we pretend to believe they are women.
