This made me laugh and laugh. (Have not checked the facts.)

"I was already spiraling into a huge mental health crisis..."

😮shocked face

DabOfPistachio · 19/02/2026 16:46

Thats hilarious 😂

DrBlackbird · 19/02/2026 17:42

This is what happens when bloody govts pander to every one of the 72 genders.

AnSolas · 19/02/2026 18:08

The salon should add an asshole option too.🤣

Hoardasurass · 19/02/2026 18:35

So hair salons now have yo offer nb prices, would that be somewhere in-between the mens and women's prices? I can see it now $100 for women, $62.50 for non binary and $25. Actually I think I'd be non binary for all future haircuts as I'd save a fortune.

Enquiring minds are wondering what service a bald person would get a at hairdressers though 🤔

Greyskybluesky · 19/02/2026 18:37

In his case, the haircut would have been $0

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 19/02/2026 18:38

Maybe they draw hair on you with a Sharpie?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 19/02/2026 19:00

He identified as needing a haircut, obviously.

Nah. Higher than either: (a) lower demand; (b) high risk of litigation if the cut is perceived to be insufficiently free of damaging gender-signalling stylistic elements and (c) the general hassle factor and requirement for staff with Olympic standard walking-on-eggshells skills.

It's sad really. The hairdresser had a business model that enabled them to offer cheap haircuts and now one individual who couldn't live with the kind of administrative compromise that comes with that territory (tell us which of two broad types of haircut you're after so we can make a better guess about how long the cut will take) has killed off that option for everyone who isn't quite so uptight. FFS.

You know, I was feeling a bit sad about Catherine O'Hara passing, and that made me think of all the legends of Canadian comedy - John Candy, Leslie Nielsen, Phil Hartman and many more - who are no longer with us.

It's nice of Canada's provincial human rights tribunals to step up and fill the gap.

Well, I've added to my French vocabulary: 'misgendering' is 'mégenrer'.
It crops up very very often in Alexe's X post.

I notice that the hair salon's sign does not actually state that there are different prices for men and for women, it just gives a range of prices.
Unlike many hairdressers in these parts of the world who charge women with short hair a lot more than men with short hair😡

The sign suggests that the hairdressers are aware that they could get themselves in trouble if they post different prices for men and women, so they don't.
But they hadn't reckoned with Alexe...

JanesLittleGirl · 19/02/2026 22:22

What is a fair price for a head polish?

HildegardP · 20/02/2026 02:39

@MarieDeGournay Be careful with Québecoise, things don't always travel the Atlantic smoothly. One eg; if in France you meet a mate, ask how she is & then want to enquire after her kids, "et les gosses, ça va?" is a perfectly acceptable idiomatic way of saying, "& the kids are OK?" but in Québec you would have just idiomatically enquired after the state of someone's testicles. [insert shrug emoji here]

Yes, I think the price-per-minute idea is a brilliant way of ensuring fairness.
