Thanks for the heads up, I'll remember to look out for it on Thursday. 👍

Thank you.

Nice one, hope there's a nice clippable riff on the SNP govt shirking their bill.

Christinapple · 25/01/2026 22:09

Are they still collecting and storing data on trans people who play sport? I have legal concerns about this.

What sort of concerns? I'm sure most will have been in their local news pages already so their names and teams are already in the public sphere.

Are they collecting 'data' on trans people who play sport in general.

Or just the ones who are biologically male but compete against women and girls?

https://www.wearequeeraf.com/sex-matters-facing-ongoing-case-by-charity-commission-for-plan-to-map-uk-trans-athletes/

"The charity is being investigated by the Commission’s regulatory compliance team, and it confirmed in a statement this began "a year ago in response to complaints made in relation to data collection""

Summary- they are asking the public to send them names and details of trans people who play sport. Maya will store these details on her computer then "map" them publicly.

Concerns- data protection and safety of said trans people. Maya and co need to legally comply with the Data Protection Act. This includes having a valid reason for storing personal details of trans people, stating how long this data will be stored for and ensuring data held is accurate and up to date- as they are inviting the public to email them details, how are they going to verify the accuracy of any info they receive? Is Maya going to send emails to sports clubs asking them if they have any trans members there (if so it would be illegal for clubs to tell her) or is Maya going to turn up in person to sports clubs to stalk their members?

The "map" they speak of is also concerning. So they're just going to publish a map when finished showing the internet where to find trans people? Are they trying to get someone murdered?

This thread is not about Sex Matters. You've got the wrong Terfy group @Christinapple Must be so hard for you to keep up, there are so many of them

I understand it is a joint "project" by both Sex Matters and FWS

FWS is not a charity.

For clarity, here is Sex Matters' response:

Feel free to raise your legal concerns with the appropriate body.

If we didn’t collect data on trans encroachment on female sport then it would be claimed that it doesn’t happen.

Then when we show it does happen the claim would change to it doesn’t happen very often.

Then when we show the true extent affecting thousands of women in sports It would be claimed that it’s against the rights of trans people to even collect the data on this.

Your intentions are clear and we’re not interested in playing your game. It is vital that we are able to demonstrate the full extent of the issue of men encroaching on women’s sports. And we will.

Drama Llama, emotional blackmail is so last year. 😱

It's all they've got, to be fair. As the old legal saying goes: "If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither on your side, pound the table."

BiologicalRobot · 26/01/2026 18:51

@Christinapple
You are really intent on muddying the waters aren't you? Dearie me 🙄

Ummmm.. just the biological men/boys playing in the women's and girls teams. They are not interested in the biological males playing in the men or trans teams. Try being truthful for once eh?

Christinapple · 27/01/2026 01:13

Can anyone explain to me how Maya or FWS verify any info sent to them about alleged trans people in sports clubs? They are legally required under the Data Protection Act to ensure all info they are storing about people is accurate and up to date.

For example if I (or anyone) hypothetically sent them an email telling them about a fictional non-existent trans woman who plays at some random club how would they verify my info? That's what I'm not understanding here.

Other Q- are the trans people Maya is storing the personal details of aware their details are on her computer?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 27/01/2026 02:00

Why not ask them?

Why come on here asking us questions like this? And demanding we "explain" to you.

As pp said, ask them yourself. You do the work. Then come back and tell us.

I assume they can read the local rags? Sometimes it's just bloody obvious a biological male is playing on a girls team and you only need one working eye to see that (and maybe a brain cell), I presume you have both.

Again it's not about trans playing sports, it's about biological males playing in women's/girl's sports which is against the law. Why aren't you worried about biological males deliberately breaking laws??

As for the rest try asking the one person who can actually answer.

FallenSloppyDead2 · 27/01/2026 09:50

How about the trans-identified males playing in women's sport man-up and shift to the men's team. That way @Christinapple can sleep at night again

Susan Smith is a wonderful interviewee. I really hope she is invited onto more mainstream media outlets. It is a travesty that this hasn't happened post-FWS.
