Brilliant news!

Victory for Darlington nurses as Judge rules policy that allows men into women’s changing rooms is unlawful harassment and discrimination - Christian Concern

In a landmark judgment, an Employment Tribunal has ruled that County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust unlawfully discriminated against and harassed the female nurses by requiring them to share female-only changing rooms with a biological male...

OMG, I'm off now, I can't be doing with people who clearly don't understand simple English.

Here's some simple English for you - A man cannot turn into a woman. A woman cannot turn into a man. HTH.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 16/01/2026 18:31

Can I ask: is there any chance of an appeal? The judgement doesn't make case law, does it, because it's a tribunal rather than an appeal? So how much authority/effect does it have in the eyes of HR departments etc? Lots, I hope, obviously, but might some organisations still (🙄) think they can insist on women budging up in their single sex spaces?

Has the government responded to the judgement? Kemi Badenoch has posted on X about it & reminded people about Jennifer Melle.

Finally, the Darlington nurses have won their case. This is a victory for the safety and privacy of women and girls. Never again should biological men be allowed in female only spaces. The fight isn’t over: Head to https://t.co/W73vRu8Psm to find out...

@ifIwerenotanandroid There has to be grounds for an appeal, it's not an automatic right. The employer can hardly claim that the tribunal have the law wrong here ime.
Unlike Kemp's gibberish in the Fife case.

guinnessguzzler · 16/01/2026 18:43

Fantastic news and well done those wims! I'm away to catch up with it all. Glad this tribunal made a sensible decision. More embarrassment for Scotland!

I cant find it now but sure I saw a quoted tweet from a legal bod saying that an appeal refused would set precedent? And hoping v much that they tried to appeal because of it.

You don't understand the words man and woman 🤣

I'm pretty sure that ITV news didn't cover this story. I was watching it and don't think I missed the coverage.

Edit: it's appalling that they don't care about a court case where the country's biggest employer was forcing women to undress in front of any male employee who said magic words.

They didn’t, I watched it too, very disappointing

the TRA’s are going batshit over this. Willoughby screaming into the void again…

I think he's going to rupture a vital organ with his ranting about "playground mean girl terfs"

SpringCalling · 16/01/2026 19:02

channel 4 news is going to cover it

Supporterofwomensrights · 16/01/2026 19:03

@IfalldownbutIgetupagain - I just saw a snippet saying that they are going to cover it (in the second half of the programme) but first they are talking about the burnt clothes of a survivor of the Air India crash which happened more than 6 months ago.

I understand that was distressing for his family members but we're talking about news that impacts millions of women and their basic rights. We're talking about women going to court to secure rights they had prior to the GRA 21 years ago. What it is to live in a patriarchy, eh.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/01/2026 19:10

ITV just covered it. Missed the beginning but saw RMW whining about "othering and targeting".
Amazing how determined some men are to access women and girls undressing 🙄

IfalldownbutIgetupagain · 16/01/2026 19:13

Ah damn it must have been after I gave up on them and went to sort food ☹️

ThatCyanCat · 16/01/2026 19:13

It's national news that a hospital needed a court to tell them the fucking unit with a cock and balls isn't a woman and doesn't belong in the female changing room - and it's far from the first or only - and a drive-by Muppet who thinks a woman can have a knob sees fit to lecture us on plain English. What a time to be alive.

We’re not even out of the madness yet.

At least discussion is freer given these rulings I remember at the peak we could hardly say anything.

C4 trying to make the nurse feel bad for calling Rose a man. She’s holding firm

OpheliaWitchoftheWoods · 16/01/2026 19:30

He IS A BLOODY MAN and it's not only his feelings and very precious beliefs matter!

The Black Belt Barrister has a piece that cheered me up, it'll come down to money in the end and this is a place where they gaslighting won't work.

AllThisFuss · 16/01/2026 19:36

Bethany was brilliant. Short, sharp and succinct. Didn't add any words that weren't needed.

C4 News clearly flailing at having to acknowledge the existence of women 😆

Even on here you once got in trouble for using correct sex pronouns, I seem to recall.

It was disappointing that Geraint Vincent referred to ‘Rose’ as a trans identifying woman and used the pronoun ‘she’. They need to catch up with the BBC! (Words I never thought I’d say).

ItsCoolForCats · 16/01/2026 19:41

Honestly, some of the utter hyperbole online about this case. Rose is still working at the hospital. Rose has been given an alternative changing space that doesn't infringe the rights of women to single sex facilities. Rose is still protected from discrimination in employment, housing etc, just like everyone else.

How is this trying to erase trans people from public life?
