Bristol Green councillors wield pro-trans placards as war of words with women's rights activists reignites

Green group leader Cllr Emma Edwards, calling a point of order, said: “Calling trans women men is highly transphobic and it should be called out. This is absolutely unacceptable language to use around trans people.”

Phoebe Beedell asked council leader Cllr Tony Dyer (Green, Southville) whether the councillors who walked out of the previous full council meeting would listen with “respect, attention and tolerance to the lawfully expressed views of people they disagree with, including questions and statements from women who have concerns about the erosion and disregard of their hard-won, sex-based rights?”.

In a written reply before the meeting, Cllr Dyer said: “The council listens for all views and concerns raised by citizens.

“However, whilst gender critical beliefs are protected under the Equality Act 2010 as a philosophical belief, this does not mean that other people must remain in a space where they feel offended or distressed by those views.

“Whether to remain in such a space is a matter of personal, individual choice for councillors or anyone else to make for themselves.”

Sounds like women in Bristol and standing up to this trans tyranny.

If it wasn't so serious you would want to laugh that a councillor would say the Supreme Court ruling was about protecting a "phiosophical belief".

Multiple women have complained about the councillors walking out of the July and September meetings.

This is what they get.

These are elected officials walking out of a meeting with constituents just because they don’t like what they hear and take offense at the truth? I am flabbergasted that elected officials are allowed to behave in this way. It’s insane.

This stops as soon as people stop voting these individuals in.

Unfortunately the turn out for local elections is typically very low, only those who are politically inclined even bother to vote, which is why these fruitcakes get voted in because only the fruitcakes supporters are bothering to turn out to vote. 😠

Everyone else just gets on with their lives, and then proceed to moan incessantly about government decisions. I've been telling everybody for years, if you didn't bother to vote I can't be bother to listen to your whinging. It's made no difference, they still don't bother to vote.

No vote is a vote for these fruitcakes.

Just imagine the uproar if someone started talking about disabled provision and a bunch of people walked out in protest!
