I hope his opponent isn't permanently harmed and, perhaps, something is done to stop this from happening again before a woman is disabled or killed.

I had not seen this image of the 2024 Olympic women's featherweight final before.

All those claiming that biological men should be allowed to take part in women's sports should take a look.

Others should avoid.

Lin's match that took place Taiwan, which clearly has no national eligibility requirements for women's boxing. As is the case with Algeria, the national prestige of winning an Olympic Gold is obviously more important than anything else, like women's health and safety.

Elsewhere, things are changing for the better: Word Boxing already has compulsory sex testing 'to protect the female category', and the IOC is probably going to do the same.

Head injuries are cumulative and often don't show symptoms until yeas after they've happened; so it's a highly relevant concern.
