Supreme Court panel event in Wales

Anyone coming to this? Should be brilliant. Sharron Davies chairing it too.
Wales has really gone under the radar but its politicians are as bonkers as those in Scotland, and they are all ignoring the judgment.
Be good to get plenty of support there.

Supreme Court panel event in Wales

Damn. If it was up North then yes but too far to get to

KeepTalkingBeth · 05/10/2025 15:59

Same here.

DH said "is it in London?". Me: "no, Port Talbot". Him: "might as well be in London"

To be honest it would be easier for me to get to London by train from my bit of Wales than Port Talbot. North to south will always be a nightmare. Will it be streamed?

Byjimminy · 05/10/2025 16:28

Shame it's not hosted online too with that line up.

Sorry hadn't clocked you'd asked if streamed. I'd assumed not by the webpage as no mention.

Byjimminy · 05/10/2025 16:30

Quoted wrong person too! 🤦‍♀️

Periperi2025 · 05/10/2025 16:35

Could someone maybe sort out a live video link in the north that we could all gather at. I'd love to actually go to something but everything is too far away.

WelshSerafina · 05/10/2025 16:52

No idea if live streaming or if a link being provided.
I’d think not, unless pre paid by audience members in advance though.
Events like these cost money for grassroots groups to put on and costs tend to need to be recovered via ticket sales.

Perhaps it could be recorded and put online? That wouldn't be costly to manage? Can any involved lurking fairies that might have any input put that possibility forward?? Or perhaps an attendee could do it?

There will be recording - which will be released in clips subsequently.
The cost issue is around cost of booking venue, security, getting speakers down etc. All of this is paid out by ordinary women, has to be recovered and that’s done via ticket sales. So I very much doubt there’ll be any live link. Those who can’t make it may have a chance to catch up when recordings are later released.

Given the distribution of population in Wales thanks to its geography, it's always going to be most sensible to hold an event like this in the highly populated south and I hope it's really successful. I think we in Mid and North Wales are resigned to things being too far away, but I for one would so love to see something like this live. Failing that, a recording on YouTube would be wonderful.

Hi OP - are you part of organising this.

Sorry to add this but in fact have seen this circulated elsewhere and many have found it quite confusing, or not very clear. There is no text version of the information so for those who cant read text captured as a photo.

No intro to how the event will happened etc.

Its fine for those "in the know" but just puzzling to others.

This is from seeing it on facebook where there is more than enough space for someone to have written up a short paragraph or two, and cuaght my attention because where it had been share the response was does anyone have more info!

Hope it goes well.

I can certainly feed that back so it can be addressed. Useful to know, so it can be sorted out. I hadn’t seen it on Facebook myself, just on X.

Not sure if I explained it well but on facebook it looks like somehow the graphic got forwarded but not the words of explanation. (Which does happen on FB as it is really inconsistent as to how it works)

And maybe on twitter there was a text explanation attached to image, and somehow just the image gets shared.

Just was trying to think of anything that would engage someone who wasn't too sure what is was about, or even for practical purposes what time it ends!

I agree it would be good to have more information than the pop-up on the Merched Cymru site. I went to check it was a legitimate event, not some TRA harvesting details. It was surprisingly difficult to find information on the participating organisations’ websites if you’re not on X.

IwantToRetire · 05/10/2025 19:51

Hadn't even thought of that Shock

But yes, really important point.

And a reminder that it is always worth checking whether something is really what it presents itself to be.

Def a legit event (am Wales WRN member and hopefully my posting history checks out on MN FWR history). Will feed back to organisers.

(P.S. I want to retire too, @IwantToRetire….)

IwantToRetire · 05/10/2025 21:38

(P.S. I want to retire too, ….)

Agree in terms of work, housework, all of it, but in fact in the context of FWR it is more about this endless TRA campaign, disrespect etc..

Want to go back to when being part of a women's group or network was being pro-active, creating more for women, not this endless having to protect our basic rights.

But as they say, musn't let the bleep bleeps get me down!

WelshSerafina · 06/10/2025 08:14

Have fed info back to both WRN Wales and Merched Cymru so hopefully issues will be sorted.
